Rise of the Orc Hero
About Rise of the Orc Hero
Dude. You are NOT gonna believe this. It's like 11 PM and I literally cannot sleep because I'm still thinking about that game, Rise of the Orc Hero.
Remember how you told me it was like, "fight fierce enemies, level up your heroes, strategic battles, upgrade dodge, defense, attack"? Yeah, that description is like, technically true but it completely misses the point. It's like describing a really good cake as "baked flour and sugar." Like, yeah, but it's *so much more*.
I started playing it earlier, just to see. And for the first like, ten minutes, I was like, "Okay, this is just another turn-based thing." You know, pixel art, little green dude, swinging his axe. But then, you hit the first 'Crossroads' choice. And it wasn't just "go left or go right." It was like, "Do you help the lost Goblin child, knowing it might slow you down, or do you push on towards the treasure?" And I picked helping the kid, thinking nothing of it.
But then later, when I was totally stuck against this huge 'Swamp Ogre' boss, that same Goblin kid, now grown up a little, showed up and threw me a healing potion! It was totally unexpected and I was like, "WHOA." That's when I realized this game isn't just about fighting. It's about the *story* you make with your Orc. Like, your Orc has a personality, man. He grunts when he's happy, he sighs when he misses a hit. There's this little animation where he like, scratches his ear with his axe handle, and it's just so charming.
I'm not usually into these super strategic games, your know? I get bored. But this one... it just keeps pulling you in. I kept telling myself "just one more stage" and then suddenly it was 3 AM. I mean, the fighting *is* fun, especially when you figure out that if you use your 'Stomp' ability to knock down the smaller enemies first, the big ones get all confused and miss more often. That was a game changer for me.
Honestly, the only thing I didn't like was that the tutorial part was a little slow, I almost quit. But I'm so glad I didn't. Because once it opens up, it's just really good. It's like a really charming, slightly goofy, choose-your-own-adventure book mixed with a simple RPG. I already told my sister Sarah she needs to try it, she loves those games where your choices actually matter. You should totally check it out. Seriously. Your gonna love it.
